WINDHOEK - ASSISTANT LOGISTICAL OPERATIONS MANAGER

We are looking for a reliable assistant to the logistics manager, who would be responsible for the overall assistance of fleet management. The Assistant Logistics Operations Manager responsibilities include organizing and monitoring fleet, scheduling of loads, assistance in cost saving and fuel management. The goal is to manage the entire order cycle so as to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and managing logistics, fleet, scheduling and customers.
- Managing of day to day operations, coordinates activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements with relevant team and management
- Plans, schedules, and reviews fleet and drivers to make sure targets are being met on a cost effective basis
- Communicates, organizes and implements effective solutions with any changes fleet management, schedules, delivery and loading to all relevant parties, including clients
- Keep track and check delivery times, transport costs and efficiency of fleet with the Operations Manager
- Meet cost saving, productivity and other targets timelessly.
- Supervise, coach and train yard workforce
Critical requirements - skills, experience and qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in logistics operations and fleet management
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Logistics will be an advantage
- Mechanical knowledge will be of an advantage
- Matric / Grade 12
- Computer Literacy is essential (MS Office including Word, Excel)
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Able to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays if needed
- Performance driven and attention to detail, being reliable and accept responsibility for the tasks assigned
- Excellent communication and management skills
- Own transport and valid driver’s license
- Code 10 / 14 license would be beneficial
- Must be presentable and neat
- Must be honest and trustworthy
- Must have traceable references
