Divergent Capital Investments (Proprietary) Limited is a start-up private equity firm registered in Namibia as an unlisted investment manager. It acts as an Investment Manager for the Divergent Capital Fund which is registered in Namibia and intends to hold unlisted investments on behalf of investors. Divergent Capital Fund intends to invest in Namibian companies providing same with venture capital, expansion capital and mezzanine finance for the mandates we are seeking. Divergent Capital Investments (Proprietary) Limited is an investment manager only for unlisted investments in Namibian companies.
This newly created position aims to ensure risk and cost efficiency in the management of a portfolio of funds as well as building adequate resource capacity. It reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer and the Chief Executive Officer, and will work closely with a resourceful team of senior managers. This position will primarily be responsible for Namibian unlisted investments.
KEY FOCUS AREAS OF THIS POSITION ENCOMPASSES:
• Investment Philosophy: Clear articulation of the investment process and consistent application of investment style against investment process, actively marketing the funds managed to both institutional and retail investors/clients.
• Risk assessment and recommendations: Take the lead on portfolio transactions including valuation and credit analysis. Collaborate and meet with research analysts and influence the ultimate decision of what investments to buy or sell. Conduct risk assessments for prospective and existing investment portfolios and ensure that appropriate deal structures are established to maximise returns and diversify and reduce risk. • Engagement: Identify key players and engage with high-level/potential investors. Provide investment perspective on the current economic climate to the financial sector or the media in general. Assist in building and maintaining relationships with market participants and advisers and actively engage in and promote debate within the investment and research teams. • Financial analysis and performance: Participate in the formulation of the investment view and assist in delivering alpha to the investors (The aim is to take on a leadership position in the investment industry). Deliver quartile 2 or better performance with the funds managed. • Portfolio management and advisory services: Manage a portfolio of existing investments/funds and portfolios, balancing risk against performance. Formalise an exit strategy at inception for consideration by the Internal Investment Committee and effectively manage the exit process. • Values: Actively seek to live the values of our client.
Minimum requirements • Fluent in English. • Energetic individual with a high level of motivation and a strong work ethic. • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as a Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics from a top tier university. • Preferred Qualifications: Completion of the CFA Program or progress towards completion of same. • Investment banking training with strong modelling and quantitative skills. • Proficiency in conducting financial markets research and delivering high quality presentations to stakeholders. • Broad knowledge of financial markets and investments and exposure to fixed income capital markets. • 3 or more years of relevant experience in the investment industry, with strong business judgment and investment acumen. • At least 3 years’ track record of good investment performance (i.e. 2nd quartile and above) is a distinct advantage. • Detailed knowledge of valuation and portfolio management methodologies and models. • Balanced Fund and Absolute Return Portfolio Management. • Economic asset selection and industry analysis. • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
