Divergent Capital Investments (Proprietary) Limited is a start-up private equity firm registered in Namibia as an unlisted investment manager. It acts as an Investment Manager for the Divergent Capital Fund which is registered in Namibia and intends to hold unlisted investments on behalf of investors. Divergent Capital Fund intends to invest in Namibian companies providing same with venture capital, expansion capital and mezzanine finance for the mandates we are seeking. Divergent Capital Investments (Proprietary) Limited is an investment manager only for unlisted investments in Namibian companies.
PURPOSE/ OVERVIEW OF THE JOB:
The Chief Investment Officer will be responsible for managing multiple unlisted investment portfolios.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Consistently lead transactions in the firm from identification, negotiations, closing, monitoring investments and finally exit thereof. The incumbent takes final responsibility for the transaction even though assisted by other staff members; • Represent the company and its clients as presented to Investment Committee on boards of portfolio companies; • Implement corporate governance disciplines in investee companies; • Initiate investments in chosen areas of investment preference;
• Substantial contact and networking base; • Management of resources both internally and externally; • Fulfil a sales and marketing function; • Development of junior associates; • Participate fully in the governance of the firm; • To assist, guide and participate in the due diligence process as well as deal structuring; and • To manage and add value to the investment portfolio.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be a Namibian citizen; Appropriate experience, typically 5-8 years, in an established corporate finance and investment management, merchant banking and private equity environment; Tertiary qualification – B.Com qualification; Completion of the CFA program is a distinct advantage; Familiarity with unique disciplines of identifying, negotiating, closing and monitoring transactions; Good general knowledge of key investment sectors; and Good working knowledge of key commercial statutes and regulations Tax, Companies Act. KEY INTERFACES: Executive Directors; Associate / Senior Associate; and Client.
